Sustainability
Sustainability is a cornerstone of Deutsche Messe’s corporate strategy and a key topic for the future. We see sustainable management as acting in an ecologically and socially responsible manner.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations serve us as a rough guideline for determining areas of action within our sustainability strategy. Affordable and clean energy, gender equality, quality education, good health and well-being, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure – we stand behind these goals and as a company make an active contribution to the fulfilment of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Our vision: Deutsche Messe is a pioneer and sets the issues for the green transformation of business and society.
Net Zero Carbon Events
Since November 2021, Deutsche Messe has been a member of the “Net Zero Carbon Events” initiative – an association of around 300 organizations and associations from the international trade fair and event industry. All signatories commit to achieving climate-neutral events by 2050 at the latest.
This is an ambitious goal that we at Deutsche Messe intend to achieve by 2035 in areas of our carbon footprint over which we have a direct influence. We aim to have realized the major part (65%) of the targeted emission reduction by 2030. To this end, we are working consistently on the steady scaling back of our energy requirements and consumption. We also place a particular focus on making tangible progress in the spheres of mobility, stand construction and waste disposal.
Our credo: "Avoid before reducing, reduce before compensating."
